In Women of My Soul, Isabel Allende talks about the experience of being a woman and shows how feminism has always been present in her life.

“The feminist revolution is probably the most important in history.” Comparing the current feminist revolution with the revolutions of her own life, Isabel Allende, the most widely read Spanish-language writer in the world, celebrates the feminist vein that runs pulsating throughout her literary work.

In Women of My Soul, Isabel Allende offers us a moving narrative of her relationship with feminism and with being a woman, while at the same time claiming the right to live adult life with feeling, pleasure, and full intensity.

The great Chilean author invites us to join her on this personal and emotional journey as she reminisces about her ties to feminism from childhood to the present day. She recalls some essential women in her life, such as the late Panchita, her mother; Paula, her daughter; and the legendary literary agent Carmen Balcells; important writers like Virginia Woolf and Margaret Atwood; young artists who embody the rebelliousness of their generation; or, among many others, the anonymous women who suffered violence and, full of dignity and courage, rose up and moved forward... These are the women who inspired and accompanied her throughout her life; they are the women of her soul.

Finally, in Woman of My Soul, Isabel Allende also offers us reflections on the #MeToo movement (which she supports and celebrates), the recent social uprisings in her home country, and—of course—the global crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. All this without losing that unmistakable passion for life and the certainty that, regardless of age, there's always time for love.
