Osho foi um professor de filosofia e mestre na arte da meditação. Fundou um movimento espiritual com características de uma nova religião, com a busca pelo divino, rituais, doutrinas e até escrituras. Sobre seu próprio trabalho, Osho dizia que estava ajudando a criar as condições para o nascimento de um novo tipo de ser humano. Frequentemente, ele caracterizava esse novo ser humano como "Zorba, o Buda" ― capaz de desfrutar tanto os prazeres da Terra, como Zorba, o Grego, quanto a silenciosa serenidade de Buda autama. Osho nasceu em Raisen District, Índia, no dia 11 de dezembro de 1931.
