Sinopse

"Just because you can explain it doesn't mean it's not a miracle." The beloved Terry Pratchett in another volume of the acclaimed Discworld series.

In Small Gods, Terry Pratchett uses his acidic humor to develop a scathing critique of institutionalized religion. Religion is a controversial topic in Discworld. Everyone has their own opinion and even their own gods, which come in all shapes and sizes. In this highly competitive environment, deities need to make their presence felt. In Discworld—the world that has spawned dozens of his success stories—the god Om realizes, while trying to manifest himself on Earth, that he has become trapped in the body of a small turtle.

He will then need the help of the novice Brutha to discover how to regain his power—and the belief that gives him life—while at the same time, great figures plan a holy war. Pratchett, in this satire of his fantasy world, returns to doing what he does best: using fantasy and humor to speak about reality.

“This satire on corrupted, institutionalized religion suggests, with agile and intriguing humor, that the power of the gods may be proportional to the faith of their followers.” – The Independent

“Terry Pratche's spectacular inventiveness makes the Discworld series an unremitting pleasure in modern fiction.” – Mail on Sunday
