Anne reunites with her former love, who is now a distinguished and wealthy captain, contrary to past expectations.

Persuasion is not only Austen's scathing critique of vanity and pretension, but also a moving story about forgiveness, love, and second chances. Through simple dialogue and the characters' perceptions of their surroundings, the author presents readers with another masterpiece, filled with social critique and beautiful sentiments.

Jane Austen nasceu em 1775, em Steventon, na Inglaterra, e morreu em Winchester, em 1817. Publicou, ainda em vida, o clássico romântico Orgulho e Preconceito (1797), Razão e Sensibilidade (1811), Mansﬁeld Park (1814) e Emma (1816). Northanger Abbey e Persuasão foram publicados postumamente, em 1818. Apesar de suas heroínas românticas estarem sempre às voltas com o casamento, Jane Austen nunca se casou.
