Sinopse
"

Exciting and captivatingly written by the author of the classic Pride and Prejudice , Persuasion is the last novel written by Jane Austen.

Persuasion tells the story of Anne Elliot, who, at 19, has the chance to live happily ever after: she is proposed to by the man she loves, Frederick Wentworth, a young, intelligent, and ambitious naval officer. However, Anne is persuaded by a family friend to break off the engagement, as the union of a baronet's daughter with an officer would not be viewed favorably by early 19th-century English society.

Later, at 27, however, Anne remains unmarried, and her family finds itself in debt due to her father, Sir Walter's excesses. The Elliots are forced to rent out their ancestral home, and the new tenants are Admiral Croft and his wife, who happens to be Wentworth's sister. Anne reunites with her former love, who is now a distinguished and wealthy captain, contrary to past expectations.

Persuasion is not only Austen's scathing critique of vanity and pretension, but also a moving story about forgiveness, love, and second chances. Through simple dialogue and the characters' perceptions of their surroundings, the author presents readers with another masterpiece, filled with social critique and beautiful sentiments.
