Sinopse
Essay on sociological interpretation. A classic of sociology that studies international relations and the process of economic and social development in Latin America, Dependency and Development in Latin America is the second title in the project to relaunch the complete works of sociologist and former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso through the Civilização Brasileira label. Initially written as a report, the initial versions of this book were produced in 1965, but the text, in book form, was only published in 1969. A landmark in Latin American sociology, the authors' proposal was to formulate an interpretative framework with an emphasis on the political dynamics between classes and social groups within each country. They also aimed to give a more prominent role to ideological options and the alternatives that the movement of history opened up in each specific situation.
