Discoveries and reminiscences in humorous and tender portraits by the great Brazilian chronicler Fernando Sabino, now in a new edition.
Throughout No fim dá certo - a title as expressive as it is optimistic -, what occurs are some precious discoveries, seen with a magnifying glass by this author who is so sensitive to everyday life.
With characteristic humor, Fernando Sabino lists ""On the list of little things that displease him at every step"": appointments made more than 24 hours in advance; answering letters; buying on credit; taking ice out of the refrigerator; any kind of uniform or uniform; armchairs without arms; animals that fly, except birds; cutting nails, especially toenails; fluorescent light; poem read by the author; cold bath; fish cutlery; dubbed film; farewell at the airport; and, curiously, writing.
On the other hand, the author also lists some little things he appreciates: a rainy day without having to leave the house; the moment the plane touches the ground and turns into a car; the middle of the Petrópolis toast cut in three; paying the last installment; discovering that it's still early, having time to have another one; having already read War and Peace , The Odyssey and Don Quixote ; a bird on the loose; walking around the house without witnesses, talking to himself or completely naked; leaving without saying goodbye; and, of course, making lists of little things that please him.
Also, suggestions for changing the titles of famous books by writer friends, jokes about pearls of literary translation, the principles of what he calls the "Anti-Murphy Law" - it is these and other discoveries that make up No fim dá certo .
