Sinopse
"Continuing the renewal of the visual identity of Ernest Hemingway's works, Bertrand Brasil is re-releasing Paris is a Party, the author's posthumous classic, with a translation and blurb by Ênio Silveira. Ernest Hemingway always opposed sentimentality. His short stories and novels show man searching for himself, discovering himself in moments of pain, danger, or defeat. There's no idealism in life: it must be faced as a challenge, and overcome without arrogance or lost without lamentations. A Feast of Paris shows us a different Hemingway, the writer and the man taking a sentimental journey to the 1920s, when the world opened up before him and his companions were the anonymous street people and famous figures like Gertrude Stein, James Joyce, Ezra Pound, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. The city and these "traveling companions" gave him a new dimension of humanity and a greater sensitivity to achieve his two primary goals in life: to be a good writer and to live in absolute fidelity to himself. In A Feast of Paris, there are moments of gentle melancholy, alternating with others of cutting, almost savage cruelty. Of Paris, its perfumes, its charms, of himself, of his friends and enemies, Hemingway left us, in this posthumous book, a series of unforgettable vignettes, written with love and irony, with humor and longing. "Paris is a Feast" shows us the writer at the moment when he is, so to speak, closing the circle of his intellectual activity. It was in Paris, this moveable feast carried in the heart, that he spread his wings. And it was after writing these evocations of Paris, full of tender candor, when he recaptured, for a time, his lost happiness, the taste for discovery and invention, that Hemingway bid us farewell.
