Sinopse
THE NEW BOOK OF STORIES FROM THE AUTHOR OF BOOK OF HOURS The nine short stories in *The Husband's Shirt* present Nélida Piñon at the height of her mastery of narrative form and elegant, allusive writing. Nélida fascinatingly describes the shadows and intricacies of family relationships, brutal, secret, or overt confrontations that lurk in every home. The young man attracted to his father's new wife, the scorned son, the disillusioned old poet, and the simple young woman who understands nothing about the delusional knight assail and seduce us. *The Husband's Shirt* is a little gem from one of our most brilliant writers. • Nélida Piñon has received some of the most important literary awards in Brazil and abroad, such as the Jabuti, the Prince of Asturias, the Juan Rulfo Latin American and Caribbean Literature Prize, and the Casa de las Americas Prize, among many others. She holds honorary doctorates from the universities of Poitiers, Santiago de Compostela, Rutgers, Florida Atlantic, Quebec, and UNAN. In 1990, she was inducted as an immortal by the Brazilian Academy of Letters, and in 1996, on the occasion of the Academy's centennial, she became its first woman president. • "Nélida, a powerful fiction writer, once again blends in her high-quality texts the tumult of emotions, the cruelty of life, the morbidity of certain environments, and the lyricism of dreams." – Lya Luft
