Sinopse
"

New book by the author of Republic of Dreams and Book of Hours .

In "A Furtive Tear ," Nélida Piñon once again draws on her keen ability to weave together memories. Her immigrant family allowed her to experience the Galician, Spanish, and Brazilian imagination simultaneously, enabling the author to explore the canon and the great civilizations of two rich cultures from the very beginning of her life.

Having always written without pause, Nélida never grew accustomed to the "wasteland of life's literature." Faced with a pessimistic, and above all cruel and threatening, yet mistaken, diagnosis, she found herself planning her next steps like someone outlining the skeleton of a book. Initially, her plans were a diary to record this new phase, but memories led her to these poetic reflections on reality, interspersed with the author's rich repertoire of references and endowed with a complete command of language and a weaving of layers of possible readings, in an alliance between text and reader.

If the certainty of imminent death leads to a great metamorphosis, perhaps the greatest a person can undergo, the verdict led Nélida Piñon to understand her own trajectory, her condition as a writer, her relationship with finitude, the condition of an epilogue to life.

With an extraordinary talent for narrating her experiences and a rare ability to highlight the nuances of detail, Nélida Piñon is a writer for whom death, tamed, is a character; for whom the verdict of death, projected, is a diagnosis to resist and overcome. A work of autofiction and memoir, Uma furtiva lágrima values and reshapes the formal limits of literature.
