Sinopse
"

Paulo Freire analyzes the possibilities of the education system in the process of social change.

Originally published in 2014, Pedagogy of Possible Dreams is composed of testimonies, lectures, essays, letters, and dialogues. Besides insisting on the indissoluble unity between theory and practice, it convinces us of the need to respect human rights, tolerance of differences, and the impossibility of human existence without utopias, hope, and dreams. Edited by Ana Maria Araújo Freire, Pedagogy of Possible Dreams has a foreword by educator Ana Lúcia Souza de Freitas.

In 1963, in Angicos, in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte, three hundred rural workers were taught to read and write in just 40 hours using the method proposed by Paulo Freire. This was the result of the pilot project of what would become the National Literacy Program under the government of João Goulart, the president who would later be deposed in March 1964. In October of that same year, Freire left Brazil to protect his own life. He only returned to the country in 1979, with the democratic opening.

Throughout his career, Paulo Freire has received more than one hundred honorary doctorates from various national and international universities, as well as numerous awards , such as the UNESCO Education for Peace Award and the Brazilian government's Order of Cultural Merit. He is a member of the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame and the Reading Hall of Fame.

"The more the dominated people mobilize within their culture, the more they unite, grow, and dream—and are involved in the act of knowing. Fantasy, in fact, anticipates tomorrow's knowledge. I don't know why so many people belittle fantasy in the act of knowing. In any case, all these acts constitute the dominated culture that seeks to free itself."
